Buying The Farm

My company is getting bombarded with these scammers. A few of our salesman have actually replied, thinking it was real. Of course, it becomes obvious once you start talking to them but it is still a waste of time. The point of this scam is that they are going to pay you over the amount quoted, and the difference you will forward to their "shipper" by Western Union. What company would do this? They are paying by credit card (stolen or fake), or by fake check, hoping that you will not find out until you have already sent the money to the shipper. As silly as this scam is, I read in my local newspaper last weekend that a company was burned for $26,000.00 on this type of scam. My emails are in blue, his/hers are in black, my comments in red. He contacted my company from our default email address on our website. This is where he got the "Welding Chucks" as the part he was interested in.

I am not sure what you are asking of me. The entire shipment will weigh approx. 225 lbs. and be packaged in three boxes.

If you are arranging your own freight company to come to our location to pick up the shipment, then it is your responsibility to contact your own freight company, not ours.

You have to contact them on my behalf as the pick up location i don't know and also they do not accept credit card as a form of payment and so i will like you to contact them to find out the cost from your pickup point to email with the total costing of all items including the freight charges to call you with my credit card details for your to run and to get the freight company paid for the pick from your location to San Juan PR for. I am very interested but i have explained it many times to you that i will want to get you paid including the freight cost and want you to go ahead to contact the freight company to find out the cost from your pick up point to San Juan and as soon as you hear back from them with a quote kindly shoot me an email back to call you with my credit card details for you to run and to get them paid for the pick up as they do not accept credit card. You don’t pay me for freight when you say you are picking up the product at my location. If you pick up the product yourselves, there is no freight cost from us. Have you ever bought from a vendor before?

Where did you find a freight company that does not accept credit cards?
Call FedEx. They accept credit cards.

Well i have been working with this freight company for the past 3 years now all because their freight charges are moderate and also they deliver goods at the appropriate time and this will be the 5th time they will be shipping to that address.Therefore i will like you to go ahead and contact them via email and ask of a freight quote from them.As soon as you hear from them let me know so i can proceed with the full payment.

No responses. I shared this with one of my salesman to show that it was a fake/scam email and he was laughing so hard. He suggested that I should have said “Free Shipping for orders over $1000.00”. So here I go again from a different, non-company email address. I tell him I sell flux capacitors and light sabers. It seems he is in the market for some fictitious items.

The product for sale is immaterial – all that matters is the extra money for the fake shippers. I had one of these fools buying unicorns off of me once.

I contacted the freight company even though I was going to offer free shipping; I just wanted to hear what they would say. But they would not respond to my email. So I contact James Lofton again to find out what’s wrong, and he will not respond either. I think the fake freight company may have known that Luke Skywalker, light sabers, and flux capacitors are science fiction and that I was messing with him. So I then send some taunts to his email laughing at him and still no response, so I email bombed him – his email account is getting approx. 300 spam emails a day…good times, good times.
